Old Car (Moss/Byrne)
I’ve got an old car and it’s falling to bits
She’s rusty leaks oil just good for short trips
She does five miles to the gallon on old leaded fuel
But she’s all that I’ve got and I guess she’ll have to do
So I got a nice young one all shiny and new
With black leather seats and a CD player too
Runs like a dream all over this town
And when she gets wet I leave her top down
I drove her too fast all about this old town
Drove her too hard then she broke down
Brought her back to the man, said she was shit
Want my old car back; what have you done with it?
So now I have my old car and she’s still falling to bits
She doesn’t look so young so good or so fit
The new car was nice but least I’ve got my old girl
She’s all that I’ve got looks like she’ll do
One day I woke up she was not in the drive
She’d gone away somewhere else for a ride
Left my in this cold and lonely dark place
It seems like she needed to get her own space
So now I have nothing I’ve just lost it all
My old car and new car oh what a fall
I’ll just have to sit here and wonder alone
What would have happened if I’d never roamed?
